Andratx

andratx majorca

Andratx is your typical Majorcan town and the largest in the South West of the island. When walking through Andratx you`ll see the large number of small bars and restaurants and its narrow streets.

The town comes alive on a Wednesday morning which is Market day, tourist buses arrive bringing people to buy vegetables, cheese and fish.

There are two important buildings in the town of Andratx Mallorca, the first is the 16th century Castell de Son Mas. The building used to be a watch tower and fortress in medieval times and is located on top of the town.

The second important building is the 18th century Esglesia de Santa Maria d’Andratx which is located where the church of 1248 used to be.

If you enjoy art I would suggest you visit the Centre Cultural Andratx.

The building is a two story building that is a private space for art expeditions which also shows live concerts.

Around the Centre there is a lovely courtyard that is surrounded by olive, orange and lemon trees.

If you would like to visit some more Majorca towns bear in mind that the northeast of the island has the history, the east coast has the crystal clear sea and the south and west is known for the picturesque scenery in the countryside.
