The Fira de Sant Tomás takes place in the town of Sineau, on the second Sunday of December, the occasion features the matanza (pig slaughter) when the pig is killed then processed into jamons, chorizo, black pudding etc. January
In the South and central Western parts of the island, almond trees blossom within the natural dry forests of Manacor and a number of other towns.
On the 16th of January the Festes de Sant Honorat takes place, full of dancing, drinking, fireworks, barbecues and concerts. This is a very lively festival which is then followed by the Festes de Sant Antonio Abat on the 17th of January, which blesses farm animals. Two days later on the 19th of January, the Festa de Sant Sebastiá, which celebrates its Patron Saint Sebatian by a display of fireworks and concerts. The carnival is the highlight of February, but dates can vary. All over the Island, towns celebrate. The children’s version, Sa Ruela is a smaller scale of the adults’ version, Sa Rua which follows.
Held a few days before the carnival is Llubi’s Festa del Siurell, the pre-lent feast.
